Broader Horizons

Good Sunday morning to each of you!  By now you should be aware of our big event happening in August.  The first addition to our list of reasons to “go West” is Bob’s Red Mill.  Yes, the whole grain Bob, the coop’s best vendor, the best thing in oatmeal in our lifetime.  Well, anyway, Milwaukie, Oregon is a suburb of Portland, on the south side.  Bob’s Red Mill was created in 1977, and still continues to operate in “an open-to-the-public tour and shopping experience”.  If you fly into Portland or are driving in Oregon, this is an interesting detour with great, tasty food.  Long story about our day going to meet Bob! – Later

Directions to 4546 Tresize Road. Note - total driving distance from Raymond is 3.4 miles.

Take highway 101 to highway 6 in Raymond. This will be a roundabout.

Go east on highway 6  1.4 miles to Willapa Rd.

Turn left (and then a quick right) on Willapa Rd and go .7 miles to Ludington Ave.

Turn left on Ludington Ave, go two blocks to Richardson Ave and turn right. Note that the street sign for Richardson is not there.

Go one block on Richardson Ave and turn left on Cole Ave. Note that the street sign for Cole is tipping over.

Take Cole Ave to Tresize Rd. Note - there will be a sharp right/left on Cole Ave.

Turn right on Tresize Rd and take it to the very end. The road will split into three driveways. Take the middle driveway - the paved one. The key here is to stay on a paved surface - it will take you all the way to our house.

Note – at any time on this route there could be cats, chickens, pheasants, dogs, deer, horses, or tractors in the middle of the road. They will not get out of your way.

Take exit 77 from I-5 in Chehalis. Go west on highway 6 towards Raymond. At I-5 you will be at mile marker 50. At mile marker 3.2 take a right onto Heckard Rd. Take Heckard Rd. to Willapa Rd. Turn left on Willapa Rd. and go to Cole Ave. Turn right on Cole Ave. Stay on Cole Ave. until it ends at Tresize Rd. There will be several sharp lefts and rights on Cole Ave.. Turn right on Tresize Rd. Go to the very end. When you see gravel straight ahead stay on the paved driveway that angles off to the right. The key here is to stay on the PAVED driveway. We are at the very end of the paved driveway.
